The March for Life in Washington D.C., put on by the March for Life Education and Defense Fund, is the largest annual Pro-Life event in the world. If you haven't been there yet, well, you are really missing out! The event is always held around the anniversary of the Roe vs Wade decision of 1973. This decision, along with Doe vs Bolton, decrimalized killing human beings in the womb, all the way up to the day of delivery.

Join the March for Life in Washington D.C. if you can. If you are coming, or are not able to, please consider donating to their important effort.

Blogs4Life is just around the corner and things are happening fast. In the few days we will be publishing additional information about our schedule - we have more to add - speakers, workshops, etc.

However, before the conference begins here are four great ways to get involved (even if you are unable to attend in person).

Online Symposium leading up to a capstone session at the conference, the FRC's Joe Carter has organized an online symposium and is soliciting entries. Your post on any of three topics will be promoted and enable you to interact constructively with other bloggers and a wide audience.

Live Blogging (even from home): a wireless internet connection will be available for those who want to blog the conference as it happen. However, the conference will also be broadcast live by the FRC over the internet , enabling those who do not attend to view it, submit questions and live blog.

We hope that you will seriously consider participating in this manner it is an excellent way to demonstrate the benefit of blogging as a rapid communication medium. Sign-up here: http://www.blogs4life.com/liveblog.php

Faithmouse Cartoon Dan Lacey is at it again, this year offering a free customized cartoon for those who want to promote the BlogsforLife conference.

Check FaithMouse for more information.

Have you noticed our right column? We greatly appreciate the publicity and are aggregating posts from blogs that write about Blogs4Life. Thanks!

FaithMouse Cartoons

Last year we were humored by the art work of Dan Lacey, the creator of Neverborn and insightful pro-life cartoons. In fact, Dan created original artwork (click here) for bloggers who helped sponsor his trip. He's pictured to the left holding one that was drawn for ProlifeBlogs.

This year, Dan has another offer:
I can produce one Neverborn cartoon template, into which I can drop the name and small image of every blog participating in the conference, which bloggers are then welcome to post on their site to promote the conference.

... the cartoons feature both the blog address and a small image of the blog itself, which can be seen in Neverborn's computer monitor. Under each cartoon are links to four files - 1.a blog sized image, good for posting on your own blog 2.a larger web image, nice for posting to snarky forums 3. a file which should give you a decent looking print on a standard sheet of paper from a home printer, and 4. a 't-Shirt' sized image in correct CafePress resolution and file format (2000 pixels wide by 200 dpi resolution png file), the lattermost being a very good deal for the price of nothing. If you've ever wanted a promotional image of your own blog to swig around on the back of your proud blogging frame, but didn't feel like spending a few hundred for the art, there you go. Bloggers are welcome to use these files to promote their own blogs and Blogs4Life; however, Neverborn himself is only on loan. Please, no subletting.

These images are complimentary to all bloggers who would like to use them to promote their own work and the Blogs4Life conference. If you're made of money and can afford to throw a few dollars my way in return for my visit to your site and the resulting files, the money would go directly into keeping faithmouse online. Thank you kindly.
Thanks Dan! We didn't even have to ask. For more information visit Faithmouse.

Blogs4Life Online Symposium

Those of us who reject the culture of death hail from a variety of backgrounds, faiths, and walks of life. We often approach the pro-life issues from different perspectives rooted in our beliefs and priorities. Although united in defense of life, we often have differences of opinions that can affect how we communicate our message and pursue our objectives.

For the next few weeks we'll be hosting an online symposium to explore these issues. The online symposium will culminate in a capstone seminar at the upcoming Blogs for Life Conference. The three symposium topics are:

Defining our Movement: Redefining “Pro-Life” for the 21st Century

Over the past thirty years the term “pro-life” has often been almost completely associated with the issue of abortion. How can we use weblog technology to argue for a more robust definition that includes opposition in such areas as euthanasia, assisted suicide, and embryo destructive research? Also, where do we draw the line between essential, nonnegotiable elements (e.g., opposition to abortion) and matters on which disagreements and differences of opinion should be respected allowed (for example, IVF or capital punishment)?

Defining our Approach: Choosing between Absolutism and Incrementalism

Should we approach pro-life issues on an incremental basis, gradually achieving our goals by compromise and exceptions? Or, should we settle for nothing less than full legal recognition of the sanctity for life? What are the merits for these positions? What are the drawbacks?

Defining our Future: Making Life, Taking Life, Faking Life

The pro-life cause can be divided into three broad areas of concern: Making Life (genetic engineering, embryonic stem cell research, cloning); Taking Life (abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia); and Faking Life (transhumanism, eugenics). What areas are we making the most progress? What areas will be of most concern over the next decade? How can bloggers have an impact in defending human dignity in these areas?

To include your post in the symposium, send us the following information:

Name

Name and URL of blog or website

Title and URL of post

Brief summary

Links to the symposium entries will be posted on Blogs for Life. The questions, concerns, and issues raised in these entries will be discussed during capstone panel session. All entries should be sent to jpc@frc.org.

Blogs4Life - Exciting News

Dear pro-life friend:

Happy New Year from Blogs4Life team!

There is exciting news about Blogs4Life (www.blogs4life.com), the Second Annual Conference of Pro-Life Bloggers (Jan. 22, 2007).

We are privileged to announce that the following group of influential and noted pro-life leaders plans to speak at this year’s event:

Bobby Schindler (Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation)

Jill Stanek (noted pro-life leader/blogger and WorldNetDaily Columnist)

Joe Scheidler (Founder, Pro-Life Action League)

Ramesh Ponnuru (author of the Party of Death, National Review Online Editor)

In addition, we’ve just received word that Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) will address the conference in person.

The one-day event will take place on January 22nd, 2007 (in 17 days!) prior to and after the annual March for Life in Washington DC. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Family Research Council, the conference is located just a few blocks from the March at the FRC’s headquarters.

Joe Carter, the FRC’s Director of Web Communications, is organizing a virtual symposium leading up to the conference on various life issues. Visit Blogs4Life.com early next week for more information about how you can participate.

Blogs4Life will include a capstone session for the symposium and various workshops ranging from online activism to stem cell research.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals and organizations to network with pro-life bloggers and develop an understanding about how weblog technology can be strategically used to promote life and turn ideas into action. It is also a unique occasion for bloggers to meet face to face and brainstorm about how to work together more effectively.

Please check out the conference website: http://www.blogs4life.com and register if you are able to attend .

Even if you are unable to attend, we would appreciate your help in promoting the event via a post or a link (please help).

We hope to see at the conference!
